#KNOWTHISFIX

Lots of good movement-inspired content this past week and weekend, so I will just get out of the way and let the links do all the talking. ;-)

Monday's #MLKNow event in honor of MLK Day = WOW. Powerful. Actress Condola Rashad reading Shirley Chisolm, Chris Rock reading James Baldwin, actor Andre Holland reading Malcolm X, Harry Belafonte with his firsthand memories of MLK, and more. If you didn't catch it, watch the livestream recording here (fast forward to 40 min in for start of program).

Seen the #OscarsSoWhite hashtag going around? Yesterday Jada Pinkett Smith shared her decision to boycott this year's show, and the Academy President made a rare statement echoing disappointment. I enjoyed this clever + funny "Oscars-inspired" nail tutorial/commentary by Franchesca Ramsey on YouTube. In general, I wonder how much longer The Oscars will even be relevant? In the meantime, thank goodness for groups like ARRAY Now.

Had some fond Know This! Tour flashbacks when I saw the trailer for new web series "The Movement" with writer Darnell L. Moore, launching today. It will feature "narratives of progress and transformation" as a response to the more bleak news we're fed regularly in our media. Looks to be a good one to subscribe and tune in to.

And because I can't go a week without my #musicfix... One of my favorites Laura Mvula released an inspiring new tune last week. Take a listen to "Overcome".

Also, in honor of singer Emily King making moves on tour very soon, here's my favorite jam from her album The Switch.
